Marian Clinic Good Sumaritian

Posted on September 24, 2008 by Glenda DuBoise

From Marian Clinic Good Samaritans, Dr. Andrew and Pam Schauer

We would like to tell you about an organization we support and why. Marian Clinic, here in Topeka, provides medical and dental care for medically indigent residents of Shawnee County. The patients – individuals and families who live at or below 175% of poverty and have no health insurance – pay small fees for their care. The remainder of the budget comes from gifts and grants. Many churches, along with businesses, foundations and hundreds of individuals, give to help their neighbors in need.

As members of the Clinic’s Good Samaritan program, we think you might be interested in this system which enables individuals to give regularly at the personal level the choose. Monthly contributions start at $5. Some donors give as much as $100 a month; one contributes $200 a month. The average monthly gift is $27. The amount is the donor’s choice. A new convenience available to Good Samaritans is PAIDS (Pre-Authorized Income Draft System) which eliminates the monthly check writing chore.

As you can guess, our Good Samaritan program is named for the Good Samaritan of Scriptures who could not ignore his neighbor in need, the man who extended himself in mercy and compassion when so many others passed by. Not everyone can be directly involved such a worthwhile community service, but through a program like the Good Samaritans we can support the efforts of those who are.

We hope you will consider becoming a Good Samaritan for Marian Clinic. The need is great and while we have incredible volunteer support from the medical community, we also depend on the generosity of other friends. Won’t you join in supporting this worthy cause?

Sincerely,
Andrew & Pam Schauer

PS – It is simple to get started. Just send your check noting that you wish to join the Good Samaritan Program to Carolyn Zimmerman at Marian Clinic, 1001 SW Garfield Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604. Or contact Carolyn – [email protected], and she will give you full details.
